MSIM Capstone with NTIA
NTIA’s BroadbandUSA team and Washington State Office of the CIO collaborated with three teams of Graduate Students in the University of Washington - iSchool to improve the accessibility and use of broadband data supporting local decision makers. This work leverages available and emerging open datasets, explore new data analysis and filtering, and new visual representations designed to support broadband leaders.
State and local leaders are committed to better understanding broadband infrastructure and subscription and to using this data as a foundation for policies, investments, and programs. The federal datasets of record are at starting place for local initiatives. We partnered with enthusiastic and creative students and our local and state partners to develop and test new analyses and visualizations. With the new visualizations of broadband data at a city, county, or state level, leaders can have informed conversations with providers and move quickly to remove barriers and incent investments for improving broadband infrastructure improve digital skills, and spur economic prosperity.
